In an effort to curb the incessant boat mishap in the country, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) is collaborating with an Indigenous boat manufacturing company for the production of fibre and aluminum boats in the country.
The Managing Director of NIWA Mr. Bola Oyebamiji FCIB held a discussion with the chief executives of the Indigenous boat manufacturing company when they paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja and deliberated on how to synergize to further bring the project to limelight.
In his remarks Mr. Yemi Aluko the Managing Director of the company said the boats can be fitted into any kinds of water either shallow or deep with the good quality materials to be used.
It may be recalled, the MD last year visited OCEA ship Yard in London, the company that is well known for construction, manufacturing of aluminum fast ferries in the UK in his efforts for the gradual phasing out of particularly commercial wooden boats in the country.
The Managing Director was in company of some Management staff of NIWA, Umar Yusuf Girei (GM Finance/Acounts), Engr. Horsfall Dakio (GM Marine Services), Ibrahim Sade (GM Procurement) and Christie Fagbewesa (Task Manager).
