Côte d’Ivoire Now Has Foundational Documents for All Blue Economy Development Initiatives

The Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources (MIRAH), with financial support from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and technical assistance from the FAO, organized a working session on Friday, April 18, 2025, as part of the promotion of Blue Economy Development in Côte d’Ivoire.

The objective of this meeting was, on one hand, to present the strategic documents for the promotion of the blue economy, and on the other hand, to discuss the organization of the Blue Economy Investment Forum in Côte d’Ivoire. These documents include: the Strategic and Unified Framework for the Blue Economy (CASUEB), the National Investment Plan for the Blue Economy (PNIEB), and the Blue Economy Development Program (PRODEB).

In his address, Minister Sidi Tiémoko Touré recalled that several major projects have been undertaken to energize and enhance the blue economy sector. These projects focus on generative aquaculture in the northern region of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as tourism and ecotourism, and fluvio-lagoon and maritime transport. He called on all technical and financial partners to get involved in the sustainable development of the blue economy and to seize all the opportunities it offers.

As a reminder, a Blue Economy Investment Forum in Côte d’Ivoire is scheduled for April 25, 2025, during the SELAB FISHERIES EXPO.
