CÔTE D’IVOIRE – PORT GOVERNANCE: PAA RELIES ON INTERNAL EXPERTISE AS MR. KASSOUM TRAORÉ APPOINTED ACTING DIRECTOR GENERAL

Following the extraordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Port Autonome d’Abidjan (PAA), held on Monday, May 4, 2026, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ was appointed Acting Director General of the institution.

In line with this decision, a meeting of the Executive Committee was held, during which Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA, Chairman of the Board of Directors, officially introduced the new Acting Director General on behalf of the Board.

On this occasion, he recalled the key challenges facing the Port of Abidjan, particularly in terms of operational performance and strengthening competitiveness. He also reaffirmed the full commitment of the Board of Directors to support the General Management in achieving its strategic objectives.

Taking the floor, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ expressed his gratitude to the Board of Directors for the trust placed in him. He paid tribute to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, former Director General of the PAA, whose actions helped position the Port of Abidjan as a major player on the West African coast. He affirmed his determination to build on this momentum by continuing efforts to modernize and enhance the competitiveness of the Abidjan port platform.

The new Acting Director General also emphasized the importance of teamwork and synergy within the Executive Committee. He called on all departmental directors to mobilize their skills, commitment, and sense of responsibility to consolidate achievements and further strengthen the influence of the Port of Abidjan. He stressed that the institution’s overarching interests and the sustainability of its development must remain at the core of all actions.

On behalf of the members of the Executive Committee, Mr. Chérif TIEMOKO extended his warm congratulations to the Acting Director General. He reaffirmed the full support and solidarity of all members, welcoming the strategic decision to entrust the General Management to an internal resource. He assured their collective commitment, based on loyalty, availability, and a sense of duty, to effectively support the implementation of this mission in light of the major challenges facing the Port of Abidjan.
