NaFAA Study Tour Highlights Investment Opportunities and Sustainable Aquaculture at R&B Farms Limited

Today, the The National Fisheries & Aquaculture Authority Republic of Liberia continued its study tour at R&B Farms Limited, a leading aquaculture facility dedicated to meeting the growing demand for Tilapia and Catfish both locally in Ghana and on the international market.

Located in Nsuaem, Gomoa Central District, in the Central Region of Ghana, R&B Farms plays an important role in bridging the gap between fish demand and supply in Ghana and across the wider West African region.

As NaFAA prepares for the construction of the Klay Hatchery in Liberia, the Authority remains committed to strategically focusing on farming Tilapia, Catfish, and other aquatic species to enhance food security, create jobs, and promote sustainable fisheries.

The visit also explored opportunities and challenges in the aquaculture sector, including the need for enhanced fish feed production, which remains a major constraint for farmers. The tour highlighted the potential introduction of a fish feed processing facility to support the sector.

For potential investors and stakeholders, NaFAA and R&B Farms identified specific investment opportunities in fish feed processing, expansion into farming other aquatic species, improving transportation and distribution networks and supporting training and capacity-building programs for fish farmers.

NaFAA invites all interested partners and investors to join in promoting sustainable aquaculture practices and contributing to the economic development of our communities and beyond.

The delegation comprises specialists in fisheries monitoring, aquaculture, social development, and communications, as well as committees on Agruculture, Fisheries and Forestry at the Senate and the House of Representatives, and NaFAA’s Board of Directors with sponsorship from the World Bank through the Liberia Sustainable Management of Fisheries Project (LSMFP) and the OPEC Fund for Development.
